I was almost leaving Vancouver when we went to Cafe Medina. My friend Beegee was then a floater pharmacist. She’s always sent out of Vancouver but always manage to come back on her days off to meet her friends. If I’m not mistaken, it was fall season when we decided to try out Cafe Medina. Every time I browse Urbanspoon, Cafe Medina is always on the Top 10 List of best restaurants in Vancouver.
So we met somewhere in Burrard, get on the skytrain, get off at Stadium?Chinatown Sktrain station. When we arrived in the Cafe, I wasn’t so surprised. I expected that the restaurant could be busy especially in the morning. The location was very tiny. Loud people. I did not care as long as we have a table. We got a two seater beside the glass window.
Beegee ordered a milk chocolate lavander latte and I was quite impressed with the presentation. What an artistic side of them. She made me try it and it was pretty good. Though it’s like any other latte you can grab from coffee shops. The above photo is the famous café medina belgian waffles with white chocolate pistachio. It was really good. The portion is just right. The dip made it even better. Now that’s my order. They call it La Sante. It consists of soft boiled egg, vine ripened tomato, olive tapenade, prosciutto, extra virgin olive oil and grilled ciabatta bread. The prociutto melted in my mouth. They were so good. I was blown away. The taste, the presentation, the right portion, everything is excellent on my plate.
I liked the food. The only one thing that turned me off is the slow service. We waited for 30 minutes for our breakfast to be served. But it was all worth it once you get your first bite. Definitely must try!
