Neil and I have been to several Korean restaurants in Vancouver. Sura Restaurant is one of the best. I liked the ambiance, the lay out and the service. It’s just a bit of a wait but it’s definitely worth it.
If you are walking along Robson heading to Denman Street, Sura Korean Restaurant is situated on the left side of Robson St. There are some other Korean Restaurants close to it like Norboo. From the outside, the restaurant looks decent. When you get in, you will notice different sizes of tables. There were tables just for 2 and long ones for a group. The restaurant looks clean even the washroom is spotless. For appetizer, we ordered Goon Mandu 5ps for $6, deep-fried Korean style hearty pork dumplings. Those dumplings are just excellent. The flavours burst in your mouth and make you want to order some more. I liked the presentation of everything. Simple but gorgeous. Everything is clean. I also liked the idea of the rice in a stainless steel ware. For the main course we ordered Jeyuk Bulgogi for $16, grilled thinly sliced tender pork marinated in chilli pepper sauce. The sauce is to die for. If you like spices, Korean cuisine it is and Sura Korean Restaurant executed the flavours very well.I apologize for too much saturation, but these are all the sides if you order on the chef’s special menu. Sweetened potatoes, kimchi and and sauteed cloud air fungus also known as bok nee in South East Asia.
All in all, the food was excellent, the service was okay, the restaurant is clean and I would definitely go back.
